Women’s quest for freedom and emancipation from patriarchy and heterosexuality is a recurring topic in Caryl Churchill’s three plays. This book delves into different strands of feminism (particularly within the second-wave feminism) and its application in the analysis of three texts respectively by pinpointing the transgression of different women characters in light of inadequacies and constraints of three feminist perspectives. The influences of socialist feminism, lesbian feminism and bourgeois feminism are discussed in relation to the three perspectives. Economy, sexuality and politics are three perspectives used in the discussion.
